I am currently undertaking a Foundation Course in Art at the University of Bolton and have selected examples of my work from the disciplines covered so far: 3D, LifeDrawing, and Surface Design.

I have included sufficient life drawings to demonstrate my development over the 10 weeks of the term. As can be seen the pencil drawing shows a continuous line style whilst the charcoal pictures include pictures drawn using a rubber to remove charcoal areas to produce the image. From Surface Design I have included prints taken from two collograph boards, which were produced using the work I developed from original line drawings. The clay bust is the most recent piece of work produced in 3D. I believe these examples provide a reasonable cross section of the work I have completed to date, and for which I have photographic evidence.

I completed a Foundation Course in Art when I first left school, always intending at some point to complete a degree course, however, it was only recently that I was given the opportunity of realising this dream. As it is some time since I completed the original course I felt it would be beneficial to use the course to bring myself up to date and to prepare an up to date portfolio prior to my application to a degree course.

Whilst there are admirable universities throughout the UK I would prefer to undertake the degree course in Fine Art in the North of England, as, after reviewing on-line feedback I found that Manchester Metropolitan University gets a very positive response from its art students. Also, during my working life I successfully completed a number of post-graduate qualifications, the most recent of which was a Masters Degree in Human Resources at MMU (June 2006) so I already have a favourable view of the university.
